Halaqa # 173

Jumada Al-Thani 7, 1442 AH


Fear of Allah

Note: During our Halaqa’s, Allah willing,  we encourage discussion after each section.  Sisters can share their reflections, thoughts and questions.

 

Opening Dua

O Allah, bless this Halaqa, allow us to gain, act upon and share beneficial knowledge. 

Guide us, forgive our sins and grant us Jannah with our families and loved ones. 

O my Lord increase me in knowledge*رَّبِّ زِدْنِى عِلْمًا   Ameen

*Part of ayah 114 Surah Taha(20)


Quran: Reciting

Sister Alia read Surah Fatihah aloud; then she recited from Surah Taa-Haa verse 88-98, followed by Sister Megan, reading the English Approximation by Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran.  In sha Allah, this will be an ongoing part of our Halaqa, and one day in sha Allah, we will have Khatam Quran and begin again.   



Quran: Tafsir

Surah Taa-Haa verse 88-98


We have chosen to use Tafsir Ibn Kathir   Volume 6 

Sister Alia read all three parts.


  1. Harun prohibits them from the worship of Calf and the Persistence of the Children of Israel in doing so

  1. What happened between Musa and Harun after Musa returned

  1. How As-Samiri made the Calf, The Punishment of As-Samiri and the burning of the Calf

Sister Shimaa was unable to attend, so we postponed the lesson. 

Instead, Sister Winnie pointed out that the website we are currently using for the English Approximation www.quran.com also has some really nice features for Tajweed and contemplation.


When you open the settings of the website, you can 

  • choose from a variety of Translations

  • In the “Select Font” section, if you choose “Tajweed Text”, it will highlight the tajweed rules. The other fonts will allow you to hover over the Arabic words and see the translation and listen to the pronunciation.

Next to each verse, you get options to copy, read tafsir, share and read reflections from www.QuranReflect.com

وتعلم ما في نفسي فاغفر لي ذنبي 

وتعلم حاجتي فاعطني سؤلي 

Oh, My Lord, You are All-knowing of my secrets and my declarations

And You are All-knowing of what is deep inside me so forgive my sins 

And You are All-knowing of my needs so grant me what I am asking
