Opening Dua

O Allah, bless this Halaqa, allow us to gain, act upon and share beneficial knowledge. 

Guide us, forgive our sins and grant us Jannah with our families and loved ones. 

O my Lord increase me in knowledge*رَّبِّ زِدْنِى عِلْمًا   Ameen

*Part of ayah 114 Surah Taha(20)


Quran: Reciting

We read Surah Fatihah aloud altogether, then Sister Alia read Surah Al-Kahf verses 98-110 followed by Sister Rim, reading the English Approximation.  In sha Allah, this will be an ongoing part of our Halaqa and one day in sha Allah, we will have Khatam Quran and begin again.   


Quran: Tafsir

We have chosen to use Tafsir Ibn Kathir   Volume 6

There is so much evil and oppression in the world, How much patience does Allah, swt, have with mankind?


Sister Alia recommends Yasir Qadhi’s series on the Signs of the Day of Judgement.  A fascinating series that is so relevant to our modern times.

 

There is a word that is repeated twice with the difference of one letter. The added letter “taa” puts more emphasis on the word which means “can”. Allah’s swt use of grammar and meaning to give such lovely elegance in the reading of the Quran.

Subhânaka l-lâhumma wa bi-hamdika. Ash-hadu an lâ ilâha illâ anta, astaghfiruka wa atûbu ilayka..
