Opening Dua

O Allah, bless this Halaqa, allow us to gain, act upon and share beneficial knowledge. 

Guide us, forgive our sins and grant us Jannah with our families and loved ones. 

O my Lord increase me in knowledge*رَّبِّ زِدْنِى عِلْمًا   Ameen

*Part of ayah 114 Surah Taha(20)


Quran: Reciting

Sister Alia read Surah Fatihah aloud; then she recited from Surah Taa-Haa verse 38-51, followed by Sister Rim, reading the English Approximation.  In sha Allah, this will be an ongoing part of our Halaqa, and one day in sha Allah, we will have Khatam Quran and begin again.   


Quran: Tafsir

We have chosen to use Tafsir Ibn Kathir   Volume 6 

Sister Alia read # 3 and 4.

Tajweed for Beginners  Prepared by Qari Ismail Essack

We now have a Tajweed Channel and Group on Telegram, where Sisters can catch up on missed lessons and participate in group discussions.  Email us if you would like to join. 


Sister Shimaa is taking a break for the month of November so we will be having periodic tajweed reviews on the Telegram Channel. 


 In our Halaqa’s, we will shift focus to “Learning Arabic” and Tajweed Review



We had a series of flashcards on two topics:

Tajweed: Tajweed for Beginners Flash Cards

Learning Arabic: 100 Most Frequent Quranic Arabic words Flashcards


We played a few rounds of a simple game. Each sister would read and answer one flashcard on the topic of her choice.   Each card was worth 5 points and sisters could collect points or partial points even if it is not their turn.  Winners were tabulated for each category.

Discussion: We learned about the root letters of Arabic words.  


Asma ul-Husna

Sister Ebada read information about our next two names and then she recited the first 30 names.

Subhânaka l-lâhumma wa bi-hamdika. Ash-hadu an lâ ilâha illâ anta, astaghfiruka wa atûbu ilayka..

What is the meaning of “Hadab” …….. from every side (corner) all around


There is so much evil and oppression in the world, How much patience does Allah, swt, have with mankind?


Sister Alia recommends Yasir Qadhi’s series on the Signs of the Day of Judgement.  A fascinating series that is so relevant to our modern times.

 

There is a word that is repeated twice with the difference of one letter. The added letter “taa” puts more emphasis on the word which means “can”. Allah’s swt use of grammar and meaning to give such lovely elegance in the reading of the Quran.
