Sister Shimaa’s Eid Tajweed Quiz for Sisters

Sister Shimaa led us through a Tajweed quiz that she created based on the lessons she has taught us thus far.  Here is an online version of her quiz so you can test yourself.

Tajweed Quiz 1

We had great fun completing the quiz together. Congratulations to Sister Alia and Sister Mai and their children for winning the competition. They each received a lovely gift package from Sister Shimaa.

Children’s Focus: Smiling

Look at the picture, what do you think we will talk about today?

Dialogue

Can you show us your happy faces?

A smile is always on your face when you are happy!

What things make you happy?

Can you show us your angry/sad faces?

A frown is always on your face when you are angry/sad!

What things make you angry/sad?

Mom’s make a happy face, then Mom’s make an angry face,

What makes mom’s angry?

What makes mom’s happy?

Children, which do you like to see, the happy face or the angry face?

Hurray for Baba Ali Season 2 Anger Management

I SMILE 😊 - Zaky Song

Each child was sent to find something that makes them smile and then present to everyone.

Meanwhile, Sister Winnie read the following:

Also when I see my child smiling at others I will provide positive reinforcement by saying to him, “I like the way you smiled at …..” or when he smiles at me I will say, “I like the way you smiled at me. It makes me feel happy.”

Make a Hadith box

Use a cardboard box or tin, decorate it if needed, fill it with slips of paper, each one has a hadith written on it.

Every week, have a hadith session with your children. They remove one slip of paper and then the mom’s read and explain the hadith. For the entire week, the hadith is reinforced with crafts and activities.

Sister Lamiaa gave an interesting talk about tests and trials we experience.
To read her notes, click here.
  • LEARN A DUA

Part of being optimistic is making dua
Dua’s are never wasted
Aisha radhiallaahu anha said, "No believer makes Dua and it is wasted. Either it is granted here in this world or deposited for him in the Hereafter as long as he does not get frustrated."
Allah’s anger at those who don’t make dua

In fact, it is even wrong to never make Dua, "Whosoever does not supplicate to Allah, He will be angry with Him." [Saheeh Jaami`as-Sagheer #2414]
"O Allah, I ask You for knowledge which is beneficial and sustenance which is good, and deeds which are acceptable. (To be said after giving salam for the fajr prayer)

  • CLOSING DUA
Oh Allah, grant us the patience to forebear our personal trials, the ability to overcome all obstacles that hinder us from your path. Allow us  reflect your love to us through our optimistic attitudes.
